-Think of what type of forum you want to make.

-Get a reason and some specifications for the site you want to make.

-Think of a good name for your site

-Search in various search engines E.G. Google, etc for a list of popular forum hosts.
--Good Hosts
---Popuplar
---High Security
---Have good features/ functions like galleries, blogs, arcades...
---Average disk space

-Register on one host and go chaeck into the ACP > Security & Privacy area and see if the security settings are good and high

-After that if you're happy with it, go set out & settle things at the General Configurations first.
--Set out rules/guidelines, etc

-Next set your forum user groupings

-Then set out forums, categories and topics for your board.
--You could also give out Thread Intros to your Forums so that people will know what is the forum discussing about...

-You can perhaps go enable /modify your site's features...

-Last of all, your background graphics.
--Get/find/create a good skin
--Have a banner/logo that has a color contrast or design applicable to the skin's color... ...

-Then of course get/find/make yourself an affiliation button/key/banner/logo and START advertising your sites now!
--Add em' to search engines...
--Through mail announcements
--E-mail messages
--Exchange links with your friends
--In MSN
--Through Web Page Advertisements
--Mailing lists
--Newsgroups........etc

-And remember to choose you members in the Mod Team.

NEVER have your forum leech off another.

that means never go on one forum and try to get people to join your forum especially if its the same type of forum. Why should they join your forum if they can just stay on the bigger one with more members? also if yah pm advertised your screwed people will get annoyed trash yah on msn behind your back and your forum will fail. happens alot on Droidz... nothing is moar annoying when you get some noob or someone pm you going:

Nev's Forum? he didn't just advertise on droidz and DD. he did all the stuff yah listed there and eventually people got intrested and THEN he advertised on DD and Droidz abit. and so far its pretty good. same with pivotz n such. and also people create forums to get power, hence why there is so many crappy noob forums out there. if you don't trust the person in power or feel they can't do the job like a noob or someone like that you'll probly not wanna join the forum.

liek what if jon was a 12 year old? what if he randomly deleted posts or spammed but yah couldn't warn beacuse he's a frickin admin? then you'd wanna leave eh?

I'm twelve. I don't spam or randomly delete posts. In fact, I'm smarter and more mature than most 13-year olds on any forum.

EDIT: Uh yeah, I have my own forum in case you haven't noticed.
